Easy to use and creates a great edge!

Got this as I process wild game and use several knives constantly. Also love to cook that game and have separate kitchen/cooking knives.

This system works very well, is easy to use, and produces as sharp a knife as you want to make it. Works easier on medium and larger knives, but also have an attachment for pocket and smaller knives. Set the angle you want and off you go!

I have sharpened about 15 knives with it and it handles them all very well!

Highly recommend if your new to sharpening as you don't have to learn the art of holding an angle for the knife like you do on a stone.

Game Changer!

This sharpener is a must have for the professional who requires sharp knives, I also have the Work Sharp knife and tool sharpener to use for grinding small items like fishing rod guide feet & small tight quarter sanding areas. It works great as a knife and tool sharpener but the Pro PA is next level for perfect sharpening of my huge collection of knives, from Tanto to Santoku to XL Carving knife, this bad boy does it all. I plan to mount it to a board that can be clamped to the table.

Long, long ago I was a deckhand on a fishing boat and that is when I started collecting since I was continuously sharpening while cleaning fish , my family & friends have always brought their knives over for me to sharpen and now I have a bigger problem...

Its worth every penny, you will not be disappointed!!! It is easy to use and grows on you quickly.

Really great product

This sharpener is easy to set up, easy to use and gets your blade incredibly sharp when you follow the instructions. I have sharpened a variety of knife sizes shapes and angles. Every one of them was easy. I have only one complaint and that is the clamp is too shallow. If I could clamp wider blades deeper it would be way more stable.

Absolutely great

If I had known how good this was going to be I might have sprung for the upgraded kit, though 800 plus the ceramic is still plenty to get a knife very sharp!

Professional precision adjust knife sharpener

Very easy to use. Razor sharp blade every time. No way to sharpen chisels though.

Easy to use professional results.

The Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener is an excellent system with outstanding build quality. Everything feels solid and well-made, and the angle adjustment is precise and stays set.
What really stands out is how easy it is to achieve consistent, razor-sharp results. Even without much sharpening experience, it’s simple to dial in the exact angle, verify it with the angle finder, and repeat it every time. The different abrasive plates cut quickly and leave a clean, refined edge.

It works great on my pocketknife/multi-tool, my higher-end kitchen knives, and fixed-blade knives.

My only regret is not buying the Professional Precision Adjust Knife Elite kit from the start—it comes with the case and extra abrasive plates that I ended up purchasing separately.

Foolproof Sharpening

I've owned my Pro. Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener for close to two years now. For me, it is by far the easiest tool I own for exceptional, consistent sharpening every single time. Over the years I have bought more sharpening tools than I can justify. Always searching for that elusive tool that would enable me to consistently produce a razor sharp edge. The Pro. Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener is that tool. From the first time I used it, it has never failed me. So why only four stars? Because I just noticed a crack in the black plastic bridge. I take extremely good care of my possessions, I have never dropped, slammed, or otherwise misused this tool. It, and the box(es) it came in, are in brand new condition. I keep the tool in the house and only use it in the house. It's never exposed to sudden temperature changes, I'm not ham-fisted nor heavy on the pressure when sharpening and have never loaned it out. So why did the bridge crack...? That's my only complaint.

Engineering dept: if you're interested in user recommendations, upgrade the bridge to metal and I will gladly buy the upgraded tool. In my opinion, this tool is the holy grail.

Dislike the expense, but I believe that it is worth the price. The best sharpening system that I have ever used. Follow the instructions and a great result will happen.

Low angle challenge

Sharpening stones grid on the v-block when setting at 15-18 degrees when sharpening my Santoku knives. System does not seem to handle lowest degree settings without interference

The Best!

As an older person who's hands are not as steady as in days of old, coupled with the fact that maintaining a consistent level is key to great sharpness, my hats off to you and this jig!
Id have to deduct a lald star for the fact that the knife although securely clamped in the fixture, even using light pressure on the the traveling rod, the edge still reflects!
Otherwise superb!

Restored a beat up knife

Kitchen knife looked nearly serrated and I completely restored it to a sharp edge.

Great sharpener

I was excited to get my new sharpener. It was easy to set up and use. All of my knives are much sharper now. Being able to have a set angle is awesome for the consistency.
The strop attachment looked like it had already been used and didnt feel nearly as well made as the rest of the sharpeners.
I am giving it five stars, simply because it worked exactly as advertised.

I think I’ve sharpened every blade I own already

I’m addicted already. System is very intuitive and the quick results pay immediate dividends. Wish it came with some finer plates but there are ways to make that work. The vast library of tutorial videos available help tremendously. Great product.

Almost Perfect!

This is by far the best sharpener I have ever used. So well thought out and user friendly. Its ability to put an absolutely scary edge of a knife is nothing short of amazing. My only issue is that there is no case with it, or even offered as an extra option. Having to repack it and tote it around in the box it came in is kind of disappointing and inconvenient. That being said, it’s still fantastic and well worth the purchase!

Exceeded expectations!

Yes, there are many sharpening systems available. Some cheap, some super expensive. “You get what you pay for” doesn’t always apply because as many have seen, inexpensive sharpeners can do the job. This particular sharpener was chosen because I have one of their Mk . 2 electric knife and tool sharpeners and it too worked well. I purchased that one a few years back but wanted something that required manual manipulation when sharpening pocket knives. I wish finer stones are offered as many reviewers consistently mention and additional accessories that would expand the usefulness of this already excellent sharpener but nevertheless , I’m glad I purchased it and have sharpened 15-20 various kitchen and pocket knives. All ended up super sharp with little effort. I highly recommend for someone that has plenty of cutlery in their possession. You won’t be disappointed. .

Love it but no case…

This device is almost perfect. All you need is a few pieces from Etsy to give extra support to long/wide blades. Oh and a CASE!!! You can get a case for the cheap model but not this one. Makes no sense to me. But still happy I got It.

Fairly happy.

I think it's a good product. Main problems are the arm has a lot of movement and needs something under it to support the flexing it does and the clamp doesn't always hold large blades well.

Also I wish there was a plate that had higher grit, something close to 1200-1500 for polishing edge

Perfect except the storage

I own almost every sharpener that Work Sharp makes. I’ve been looking for the perfect sharpener and may have finally found it. I wished they made a storage container for the system. I ended up buying a snowman (company that makes coolers) box to store several sharpeners and then 3D printed a block for my stones. Now the kit is complete.

Never sharp to AWESOME

I have had a kitchen knife that I could never sharpen. I never was great at sharpening but had many sharpeners before the Work Sharp. After a 15 minute debute it sharpened the unsharpenable I am am very impressed.

Worth Every Penny

I rarely leave reviews for products, but I feel obligated this time. Simply put, this is the most effective sharpener I’ve ever used. I’m not good (terrible, actually) at sharpening free-handed, so I would just send my knives out to be sharpened periodically. No more! I told a friend that you almost have to try to mess up a blade to mess up a blade. I’ve put a razor edge on every style of blade I own, from a single-bevel tanto to a double-edge dagger. I’ve even been able to repair a couple of kitchen knives with damaged edges.
In short, the design is simple, the construction is solid, and the results speak for themselves. It’s well worth the money.

A great addition

I have been using a Work Sharp Ken Onion for some of my sharpening needs, and another brand kitchen sharpener for my kitchen knives. When the PPA sharpener arrived, I immediately set it up and went about sharpening all my kitchen knives, as well as several pocket folders. I had previously watched several of the very informative YouTube videos on using the PPA, so set-up and use was a breeze. The device is very stable, and it produces terrific results. I really, really like the small-knife table - I have always had difficulty sharpening paring knives and small folders on other systems. Not any more!

Yes, I would highly recommend this system

Excellent

My wife just got me one of these. It works beautifully. I have a few knives that are tricky to put a good edge on. With this wonderful tool, it's a piece of cake. Perfect!

Recently upgraded from the base model

Loving this sharpener. It improves upon the original in many aspects, larger stones, swapping stones on a single head, a rest for the abrasive head to sit in out of the way while you turn the blade over or take a break. The only downside I see as of right now is that the mouth of the clamp is too shallow, and because of this when sharpening large knives such as kitchen knives, they tend to sag and twist, even with the clamp support. Perhaps worksharp can release some cheap adjustable rests to further support larger blades? Free floating, so as to be easy to move around when flipping sides on the blade, and twist adjusted like the feet on appliances, with a padded top, would be fantastic and pretty much universal. I will say too, some cheap blank stones to use for lapping film wouldn't hurt either. Other than some simple add-on requests, this system is fantastic and overall well thought out.

What a perfect gift

In my early 80's I have taken up the semi-hobby of sharpening knives. My wife gifted me the Work Sharp PPA for my birthday. She saw me struggling with Whetstones not being able to hold the angle and decided this was the cat's-meow and she was right. I'm not so much intrigued with polished edges as I am sharp edges, so the PPA is an excellent choice for me. I have been using the Guided Field Sharpener for over a year now in the field, but can get a sharper edge with the Work Sharp PPA.

Handle Seized Up

After only 4 sharpening sessions the handle has seized up on me and is very difficult to slide on the metal rod. I assume this is due to the heat generated from the friction of using the handle and the nylon bushings inside. I have reported the issue to Work Sharp and have also gone ahead and purchased another one from their website just in case they don't stand behind their product and honor the warranty.

Other than this rather major issue, I love the sharpening system and highly recommend it.

Hi Brian! It looks you've been in contact with Taylor from our customer experience team, he will take good care of you.

FAQs

What makes this different from the other Precision Adjust models?

The original Precision Adjust suits casual users who want consistent, guided sharpening with a simple three-abrasive setup. The Precision Adjust Elite adds seven abrasives and a carry case for enthusiasts. The Professional Precision Adjust is built for serious users — it features larger, longer-lasting abrasives and a fully metal base and clamp for improved durability and stability. The Professional Elite combines the all-metal build with the full Elite abrasive kit, including resin-bonded diamond plates, for maximum sharpening range and longevity.

Is this sharpener beginner friendly?

Yes. The guided system removes most of the guesswork from sharpening. Even without prior experience, the angle indicator and clamp make it straightforward to get consistently sharp results with minimal practice.

What is the maximum knife size this sharpener can handle?

The clamp secures knives up to 1/4" thick with blades up to 15" long. For longer blades, sharpen in sections by re-clamping along the length of the edge. An 8" blade sharpens easily in one pass; a 10" chef's knife is possible but more efficient when worked in sections.

Can I buy replacement parts and accessories?

Yes. Replacement abrasives are available for all included stones. You can also purchase accessories including an upgrade kit with resin-bonded stones, premium leather strop, universal handle, and carry case.

Do I need to use oil or water?

No. This sharpener is designed to be used dry. Oil can cause oxidation. If water is introduced, dry the sharpener as quickly as possible to prevent any damage.

How many sharpenings can I get from the abrasives?

It varies depending on blade size, steel hardness, condition, and pressure used. In testing, approximately 75–100 sharpenings per abrasive set is typical. All abrasives are removable and replaceable, so the sharpener itself won't wear out over time.

What is the longest blade that can be sharpened without re-clamping it?

Only approximately 2½" of the abrasive contacts the blade at a time, so blades over 8" are best sharpened in sections. Re-clamp along the edge and use the up-and-down stroke shown in the manual for even coverage.

Is it made for kitchen or pocket knives?

Both. The standard V-Block Clamp works well for kitchen knives, and the included small knife table handles pocket knives and pen knives down to 15°. It comfortably holds and sharpens blades up to 8" in a single pass.

What are the grits of the resin-bonded stones?

The resin-bonded stones are approximately 1200 grit (20–28 µm), 2000 grit (14–20 µm), and 3000 grit (5–10 µm). Because they're resin-bonded, they cut more smoothly than electroplated diamond stones of the same grit rating.

Does the strop come preloaded?

No. The strop comes plain, allowing you to apply the stropping compound of your choice based on your sharpening preferences.
