I would like something more.

The product is very convenient and helps you a lot with sharpening!! What I would like is that it had more replacement diamond stones in various numbers such as 800, 1000, 1500, 2000. Thank you.

Finally!

I’ve always struggled with using a stone & maintaining a consistent angle. The angle guides on this sharpener work great! When used in conjunction with my Benchmade/ Worksharp field hone, razor sharp touch-ups are a breeze.

One of the best

Over the years I've tried the Tormek wheel, Norton water soluble "stones" and a varierty of other countertop and hand held devices in search of good edge on my kitchen knives. The Work Sharp benchstone is so far the best of the bunch. Only disappointment is scissors, but that's probably my lack of technique.

Many thanks.

Great sharpener.

Although I really like this sharpener, I thought a bench sharpener would be 3x6 rather than 1 1/4 x 5 1/4, which I would prefer. This sharpener works fine for my carving knives though.

I do recommend the sharpener this is my second one.

Good beginner tool.

The first knife I tried, a Kershaw entry level folder, came out sharper than when I started, and it was pretty dull to begin with. That's about as good as I expected for a beginner. It's gotten better, or I have, since then.

Why did I wait so long

Very simple to use, no confusion in how to use. Gets my ass back into my projects quicker than the regular stones I was using and the best part I won't have to worry about reshaping this sharpener before I actually begin sharpening which would more times than not become a full day thing (I have a lot of chisals, Carving knives, pocket knives, than there's my throwing knives, can't forget the kitchen knives...come to think of it I'm sure I have over 1000 knives and should probably get one or two more sharpeners

Woodworking tools

Purchased one of these to sharpen my lathe chisels. Works great even on the curved gouges and is very easy to use. I already had an abrasive disc sharpener but wasn’t able to get the edge as sharp as I wanted and the heat it generated compromised the hardness of the steel. This sharpener does the job well and the cost was lower than other tools. Highly recommend it.

Perfect size and weight for easy transport and storage. The rubber feet keep it from sliding around when working on a smooth surface. The pivoting feature makes it very easy to sharpen my knives with drop belly edges.

I've had the hand held version for years and loved it. In fact I just got two new plates for it along side this purchase. Excellent company and product.

I now have some very sharp knives. I cannot say enough good things about it. I could never get the edge I wanted with other brands, this sharpener does it with ease.

This is the best sharpener I’ve used since I was in the Boy Scouts the 60s.
I decided on the Benchstone because the price is very reasonable portable for my work as a professional mobile clipper/scissor sharpener. Others in my profession use grinders on scissors, so I decided to use the Benchstone. It gives me more control over the scissors than using a grinder.
I’m so glad I did. I’ve taken salon and regular scissor that were very dull and got them back into service with minimal time and effort. The combination of the 3 stones, with the angle guide, makes getting a great edge so easy. Maintaining an edge can’t be more simple. A few strokes on the 600 and a few strokes on the ceramic and the customer is back in business right there at their location.

Thank you, Work Sharp, for creating this awesome piece of kit. The only mistake you made is that I may not be buying one of your powered sharpeners like the Ken Onion Edition. The Benchstone meets my needs so well!

I also have the Lansky system but working with the Benchstone is much simpler. The Lansky system is also difficult to use with small blades, such as traditional pocket knives. I’ve used the Benchstone on both small blades and chef’s knives with satisfactory results.
If a blade needs a total makeover, I start with the coarse diamond stone, counting strikes until I get a burr on one side. Then I do an ealqual amount of strikes on the other side, followed by alternating perhaps 10-20 strokes on the fine diamond stone and finally the ceramic stone. I am no pro but I managed to get an old Camillus folder razor sharp 👌

Bought this a few years ago and just hopping on now to leave a review after today. I literally just completely reprofiled and sharpened a S30V steel blade with this. Before that? I have sharpened/reprofiled/fixed SEVERAL standard knives with softer steels on this.

I really like that it pivots when you run your knife across, it REALLY helps with getting the tip of the knife. If you've been sharpening off stones for a while prior to this it will take a sec to get used to.

This really is all you need. I prefer this over sharpening systems because there aren't any restrictions. You can work angles you want, repair specific areas etc. I wouldn't even bother with the sharpening guides: just take the time to learn freehand and you'll be rewarded later.

The only thing I would like is if the whole set/stones were just a bit bigger. But hey for under 50 bucks for a complete package like this that will literally sharpen your hardest steels? No complaints here. Seriously, this may be the only set you'll need.

This is the best sharpener I've used since I learned to use a whetstone in Boy Scouts 60 years ago. From Arkansas stones to water stones to Lansky kits to ceramic rods in the upright V configuration, honestly I've always been satisfied. If you know how to sharpen, and I had good teachers, you can get good results with any decent-quality stone or system.

And then I decided on a whim to try the Benchstone. The price is very reasonable so why not?

I'm so glad I did. I've taken kitchen knives that had chips and nicks back to tomato-slicing sharpness with minimal time and effort. The combination of the 3 stones, with the angle guide, makes getting a great edge so easy. Maintaining an edge can't be more simple. A few strokes on the 600, a few strokes on the ceramic, and a few passes on my strop and we're back to a shaving edge.

My go-to kit for the last 15 years has been the Lansky. I get great results from it. But it's a lot more fiddly than the Benchstone. Instead of having to set up the rods and stones over again for each level of grit, on the Benchstone I just set up the stone I want to start with and get to work. It's always ready for edge repair or a quick touch-up.

Thank you, Work Sharp, for creating this awesome piece of kit. The only mistake you made is that I may not be buying one of your powered sharpeners like the Ken Onion Edition. The Benchstone meets my needs so well!

This is one of many worksharp products I own. It is also my favorite. The guides make for a quick, and fast sharpening experience. The pivot response is great for smaller knives. Makes quick work on all of my different knives, and scissors. Great if you're an expert sharpener. Or if you're just starting out. You can go wrong with the Benchstone.

i have not received this product yet. But I have been able to talk to the tech people. It is not for me, but for a best friend to whom I gave a fine chef's knife. He has maintained it with a DMT stick I gave him, but he does not have any experience with real sharpening and the curve of the 8" blade has him uncomfortable. I feel that the pivot will relieve some of his discomfort. I use many diamonds and waterstones, and, even a Tormek for some shaping. I have taught honing for years, and have a small forge, here at home. For myself, I have the full-bore "Ken Onion" elite package. I have a slow speed long belt system, but for final cleaning and final edge, I am convinced the "KO" elite will be perfect for final angle set and razor edge. I will still freehand on my stones, and the Tormek for re-shaping edged tools, but that complete KO system will complete my forge results. That is how I feel so confident about this unit, and more.
